ARTISTIC COLLABORATIONS – SCIENCE / STEM or STEAM
2021 & 2022 Resilience During Covid-19 (Douglass Honors College, Rutgers University). Seven month, bi-weekly workshop in which we explored what resilience means during a global pandemic of 2020/21 through the lenses of art and science.
2020 Urban Resilience (Douglass Honors College, Rutgers University) A one week intensive workshop and fieldtrip for freshmen in New York City to investigate how designers, artists, scientists, urban planners and architects are responding to sea level rise.
2019 Telling Stories About Hurricane Florence. (East Carolina University, National Science Foundation). I worked with three rural middle schools who had significant flooding during Hurricane Florence in integrating computational thinking, music and art in partnership with East Carolina University and the National Science Foundation. I worked with two art teachers and one music teacher in helping students build projects that integrate their own experience with weather data from the hurricane.
2013/16 Microbiome Art/Science Collaboration (Technical Education Research Centers / TERC & Boston Arts Academy, Multi-year collaboration with biology teacher Valerie Pastorelle.
2008/9 Synergy Program (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute & Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Collaboration with Jonathan Finke (oceanographer) on the study of krill aggregation near Georges Banks.
